A Compliance Calendar for Multi-Entity Groups: ROC, GST, Labour and Data
By ATTPL HOLDCO / ATTPL GROUP Editorial Team · · 2 min read
Groups with several companies need a unified compliance calendar. Here is a simple structure covering corporate, tax, labour and data rules.
One group, many deadlines
Each legal entity has its own filings. A central calendar prevents missed dates and penalties.
What to track
- Corporate: annual returns, financial statements, board meetings, statutory registers.
- Tax: GST returns, TDS, advance tax and income tax returns.
- Labour: wages, bonus limits and registrations under the labour codes and state rules.
- Data protection: consent, notices, vendor contracts and breach response, as the DPDP rules phase in.
- Licences and renewals specific to each sector.
Governance habits
- Name an owner for each filing and a backup.
- Review the calendar monthly with finance and legal.
- Keep documents in one secure repository.
- Subscribe to official notifications.
Designing the calendar
Create one master sheet or tool with columns for entity, obligation, authority, due date, internal due date, owner, backup, status and evidence link. Sort by date and colour-code upcoming items. Add recurring monthly, quarterly and annual items first, then ad hoc ones such as licence renewals.
Set the internal due date a week earlier than the legal one so there is time to fix issues.
Evidence and audit trail
For each filing, save the acknowledgement, challan and supporting workings in a structured folder. When auditors, lenders or investors ask for proof, you can provide it quickly. Keep a log of notices received and replies sent.
Review cadence
Hold a monthly review of the calendar with finance, legal and HR. Review the status of each item, discuss changes in rules and assign actions. Once a year, audit the whole system and update it for new laws and entities.
